Good Guy (4/5 stars) by Kate Meader is a heartfelt, emotionally grounded romance that shines brightest through its male lead—and honestly, he was the reason this book worked so well for me.
I loved the hero in this story. He was kind without being boring, strong without being overbearing, and emotionally present in a way that felt refreshing and genuine. There’s something incredibly appealing about a male lead who doesn’t need grand gestures to prove himself—he simply shows up, again and again, in ways that matter.
The romance itself unfolds at a comfortable pace, with plenty of quiet moments that allow the connection to feel earned. Kate Meader does a great job of focusing on emotional intimacy, trust, and the steady build of feelings rather than relying solely on drama.
A few quotes that stood out to me:
“Being a good guy wasn’t about perfection. It was about choosing kindness, even when it was hard.”
“He loved her in the small ways—the ones that didn’t ask for applause.”
“Sometimes the safest place in the world is someone who stays.”
I gave this book 4 stars because while the story didn’t completely surprise me, it was consistently solid, comforting, and emotionally satisfying. It’s the kind of romance that feels sincere and leaves you with a soft, happy sigh at the end.
If you love character-driven romances with genuinely good heroes and a strong emotional core, Good Guy is definitely worth the read.
