Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher

I gave Fool Moon by Jim Butcher 3.75 stars. I’m still really enjoying this series, and Harry continues to be a character I genuinely like and want to root for.

This installment leans heavily into the werewolf lore—and let me just say… read carefully. There are multiple types of werewolves introduced, and it gets confusing fast if you’re not paying attention. I’m still not entirely sure I fully understood Tara and what exactly she was, but I have a feeling that was somewhat intentional. It added to the mystery, even if it left me a little lost at times.

Harry is still a standout. His internal dialogue, sense of responsibility, and stubbornness make him such a compelling main character.

“There’s a difference between knowing something and understanding it.”

One of my biggest frustrations, though, was the continued misunderstanding between Harry and Murphy. It felt completely unavoidable. Harry didn’t even realize he was leaving information out, and Murphy didn’t give him much of a chance to explain before jumping to conclusions. It created tension, but it also felt a bit drawn out and preventable, which made parts of their dynamic frustrating to read.

“Sometimes doing the right thing doesn’t look right at all.”

That said, the pacing, action, and darker tone kept me engaged. The stakes felt higher in this book, and the world is definitely expanding in interesting ways.

Overall, I’m still hooked on the series. Even with a few confusing elements and some character frustrations, I’m invested enough to keep going—and curious to see where Harry’s story heads next.
