Calamity Rayne Back Again by Lydia Michaels
Calamity Rayne Back Again by Lydia Michaels

I came back for Calamity Rayne Back Again (3.5/5 stars) almost entirely because of the cliffhanger in book one—and I’ll admit, curiosity absolutely won. This sequel keeps the same chaotic, spicy energy and doubles down on Calamity’s unpredictable life choices.

Calamity is still very much Calamity. Messy, impulsive, and running headfirst into emotional disasters with confidence. If you liked her brand of chaos in the first book, you’ll feel right at home here. If she tested your patience before… she probably still will.

The relationship with her boss remains confusing and frustrating. I kept waiting for clarity or emotional grounding, but instead it continued to feel murky and hard to fully invest in. It never quite settles into something that feels healthy or well-defined, which made it difficult to root for.

That said—Hale. I loved Hale. Every scene he was in felt like a breath of fresh air. He brought balance, sincerity, and much-needed emotional grounding to the story, and honestly, he was the highlight of the book for me.

And yes—this one is spicy again. Lydia Michaels doesn’t pull back in that department, and if you’re reading this series, you already know what you’re signing up for.

A couple of quotes that stood out:

“I didn’t just make bad decisions—I committed to them like they were a personality trait.”
“Some people call it self-destruction. I call it surviving loudly.”

I gave this book 3.5 stars because while it didn’t resolve all the things that frustrated me in book one, it was still engaging enough to keep me reading. The cliffhanger worked, the spice delivered, and Hale absolutely carried this installment.

If you’re already invested in Calamity’s chaos, this sequel is worth picking up—just don’t expect everything to suddenly make sense.
