Storm Front has given me a new wizard series to obsess over. It will never take the place of Harry Potter (my millennial heart won't let it), but its running a close 2nd.
I chose this book because J casually mentioned it one day dropping the words "crime" and "wizard" in the same sentence, and I immediately went to his audible and began listening.
Summary: Harry Dresden is a wizard who consults for Chicago P.D. He finds himself being hunted in more ways than one as he attempts to help solve a particularly grizzly case.
Review: I gave Storm Front 4.25 stars. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. As a newbie into the fantasy world (outside of Harry Potter), my expectations were pretty low. I love a good True Crime and wizards will always hold a special spot in my booky soul so I gave it a shot.
Jim is a wonderful story teller and hilarious! I am hooked. I've already bought the next 4 books in the series to read. I was not a fan of how dense Lieutenant Murphy's character was. I'm hoping in the books moving forward her character gains some personality and isn't so quick to judge. Her character just felt very one dimensional to me.
Quotes:
Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't a demon about to eat your face.
If you still need a hook for the book: Harry has a skull that likes to run amuck, cause chaos, and do naughty things. I laughed out loud so many times when this character was involved in the story.
