Since the Day We Danced by Kerk Murray
Since the Day We Danced by Kerk Murray

Since the Day We Danced by Kerk Murray (3.5/5 stars) is a tender, introspective novel that explores love, heartbreak, healing, and the passage of time. It’s a quietly emotional story that reflects on how our past shapes us and how some moments—especially the ones tied to love—can linger for a lifetime.

I gave this book 3.5 stars because while I appreciated the depth of emotion and the lyrical tone of the writing, I found myself wishing for a slightly tighter narrative in places.

The pacing was uneven at times, and a few plot transitions felt a bit drawn out. Still, the sincerity in the storytelling shines through, and it’s clear the author poured his heart into the characters and their journeys.

There were several lines that struck me and stayed with me, especially these:

“Some loves don’t leave—they live quietly in the spaces between who we were and who we become.”
“We were just two souls trying to dance through the wreckage.”

Both quotes capture the essence of the book: that love—especially first or lost love—can haunt and heal us in equal measure.

This novel will likely resonate most with readers who enjoy reflective, emotionally driven stories with a nostalgic and romantic core. It’s a quiet reminder that even if some relationships don’t last forever, the feelings they leave behind often do.
